Nature Sensory Brain Breaks is a program that consists of 5-20 minute nature sensory, outdoor and indoor, activities that can facilitate children's learning, encourage more time out of doors for a closer relationship with nature, as well as develop life skills. It is designed for teachers and parents to refocus children in the midst of their day, as a tool that prepares them for future learning and greater well-being.
There are many ways in which we benefit Nature Sensory Brain Breaks: improves our ability to concentrate, provides a sense of relaxation and relief from anxiety as well as improves our attitude towards learning. More than two decades of studies in Japan and around the world document the essential mental health benefits of spending time in nature, as well as the re-greening of our indoor spaces.
Nature Sensory Brain Break also contributes to the well-being of teachers and provides an innovative and comprehensive set of tools and workshops to introduce Nature Therapy into their classroom. They include:
Teacher Training Workshops that provide skills, tools and information on how to most effectively introduce Nature Sensory Brain Breaks into the classroom, with students. Parents welcome!
Nature Sensory Brain Break Activities Kit makes it easy for you to lead 5-15 minute, outdoor and indoor nature sensory activities with your students, and provides you with fundamental information you can revisit periodically. The activities kit is included in the teacher training workshop.
Teacher Support through in class skill modeling and coaching sessions, webinars and email communication.
Additional Workshops and Immersion Programs to deepen nature sensory skills and knowledge, tailored to the needs of each school, group of teachers.
We offer the teacher training workshop through BluSeed Studios in Saranac Lake, an accredited provider of CTLE programs. Find scheduled trainings for summer 2020 here. Or contact us after gathering a group of six or more teachers to schedule a training for a date that works better for you.
We can also partner with your school or school district to implement Nature Sensory Brain Breaks with your interested teachers or as a school wide implementation. We work with your administrators to source funding that reduces the school's financial responsibility in implementing the program.
