SENSORY SNOWSHOEING

Immerse yourself in the magic of winter.

So, what is Sensory Snowshoeing?
Notice what's in movement in the forest around you, the shapes of the shadows on the snow. Gently cup your ears forward with your hands, like deer ears to amplify the forest sounds. A woodpecker? The breeze in the pines? Listen to the silence between the sounds. Breathe in the aromas of the forest in winter. Feel the distinct texture of each tree's bark. The feel of the snow flakes melting on your tongue.

Sensory Snowshoeing immerses you in the sights, sounds, scents and textures of the forest. Experience relaxation and mindfulness, effortlessly.

"In full disclosure, my brain is trained to constantly shift from one task to the next,
while mulling about how I could have better handled a work situation.
I was admittedly skeptical. I left Sensory Snowshoeing feeling calm and centered, a novel and welcomed state of mind."

Can't I do this on my own?
Would it be in the same way? Your guide is there to open the door to a new way of being in nature. Gentle direction and guided sensory activities give you the space to enjoy your own personal experience, to explore and to adapt in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Sensory Snowshoeing is a learned practice. You can take it home. Your garden, a favorite tree or a nearby park are all inviting places to take a sensory nature break in the midst of your day. We can show you how. It's simple.

There is no better place to learn than away from home, in the six million acre wilderness preserve of the Adirondack Park. More traveled or off the beaten path, we have a variety of trails and we can choose the one that feels most comfortable to you.

Is Forest Bathing, the source of Sensory Snowshoeing just another new fad?
In fact, the practice of Forest Bathing is several decades old, pioneered by the Japanese Ministry of Health. Over two decades of studies reveal that it lowers stress hormones and blood pressure, relieves anxiety and symptoms of depression, and boosts the infection and cancer-fighting cells of your immune system for days, even weeks.

"I am a hopelessly restless sleeper. For the first time in ages, I slept like a baby
after Forest Bathing."
